What Does a Security Architect Do?

Security Architects design and oversee the implementation of an organization's entire security infrastructure. They create the blueprints for secure systems, ensuring all components work together to protect against threats while enabling business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design enterprise security architecture and frameworks
• Evaluate and select security technologies and vendors
• Develop security standards, policies, and guidelines
• Review system designs for security requirements
• Lead security initiatives and transformation projects
• Mentor junior security team members
• Communicate security strategy to executive leadership

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 10+ years of experience in IT with 5+ years in security
• Deep expertise in security technologies and frameworks
• Experience with enterprise architecture methodologies (TOGAF, SABSA)
• Strong knowledge of cloud security architecture
• Understanding of compliance requirements (SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS)
• CISSP, CISM, or CCSP certification required
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
