Application Security Engineers focus on securing software applications throughout the development lifecycle. They work with development teams to identify vulnerabilities, perform code reviews, and ensure applications are built securely from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform security code reviews and threat modeling
- Conduct application penetration testing
- Implement and manage SAST/DAST tools
- Develop secure coding guidelines
- Train developers on secure coding practices
- Triage and remediate application vulnerabilities
- Integrate security into the SDLC
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 3-5 years of software development experience
- Strong programming skills (Java, Python, JavaScript, etc.)
- Knowledge of OWASP Top 10 and common vulnerabilities
- Experience with security testing tools
- Understanding of web application architecture
- Familiarity with secure SDLC practices
- CSSLP, GWEB, or OSWE certification preferred
